Waa... hontou ni osokunatta...

Gah, I can't believe I've let this poor blog to die... well, I've revived it and had put in a new layout to boot! And it's themed after one of my favourite animes, Saikano! ^^ I wonder if you guys like it... @_@

In the mean time, I have 2 animes to review. One is Elfen Lied. Now, the main reason I was attracted to this anime was because of the great reviews I've seen. Plus, it's number 3 in the top 200 animes in AnimeNfo.com. So when I saw the anime in KL, I took the chance and bought it.

Now, I won't go into lengthy summaries, but the story's about dicloniuses, these strange "humans" with red hair, eyes and have horns on their heads. The reason of their existence is to kill all of mankind, they do this with their "vectors" which are actually extra, invisible hands that can cut anyone in one swipe.

Our main character is Lucy, whom after being mysteriously released, loses her memory and transforms into Nyuu. She meets cousins Kouta and Yuka (who 'secretly' loves Kouta) and the story revolves around them, the great mystery of the dicloniuses and also Kouta's involvement in this all.

It's also a harem anime as two other girls join the group. One is Mayu who has a terrible past and ran away from home. Another is Nana, a diclonius who was sent to kill Lucy, but after being defeated by her, she is then "thrown" away and thus ends up with Kouta through Mayu.

Overall, I had a love/hate relationship with this anime. I loved it because of the great music, a few interesting characters (especially Lucy, who's flashback was one of the best parts of the anime for me) and the great moral behind the story. But what I didn't like was that it was incomplete, and it left a lot hanging, especially the ending, which really bothered me. Plus, I didn't exactly like Nyuu and Kouta, who both became irritating after a while.

The blood, gore and nude scenes may be too much for a lot of people. The blood and gore is especially worst in the first episode, I was worried that I might not like it but in the end, turns out I could take it without feeling sick. ^^ The nudity is nicely done, without it being too erotic. But this anime is definitely for a more mature audience.

In the end, if you like harem type animes, with some blood, gore and nudity, and you don't mind if a guy gets it all or a Chii wanna be (sorry for being harsh on Kouta and Nyuu, but they really bugged me. >.<), then this is the anime for you.

Another anime that I've watched was Mahou Sensei Negima. I've actually heard about this for a very long time, but only decided to really check out the anime after being able to have a sneak read of 2 volumes of the manga in Kinokuniya. I was worried that I wouldn't like any more harem type animes... (I've never really watched Love Hina, but I was never really into those type of anime) but Mahou Sensei Negima turned out to be quite a good watch.

The story revolves around Negi Springfield, who's 10 years old, a child prodigy and a wizard. In order to further his training, Negi was given the task to be an English school teacher in an all girls school called Mahora Academy. Imagine... a 10 year old boy in a room filled with 31 girls and each with a unique character. Sounds chaotic right? Exactly.

31 girls sounds like quite a task to make each one unique... but the creator managed to make each one of them likeable in their own way. I was soon attracted to the wacky side of Mahou Sensei Negima but it was the ending that really got me hooked. It was probably one of the best endings I've seen in a while... and it could be because I was hoping for the worst. So as the VCD stopped on the last episode, I was grinning from ear to ear.

Still, just because I was happy, that doesn't make it the best anime to watch. There are a couple of mistakes done by the anime. The main thing was the colour changes in the anime for certain girls hair. And the animation is not top quality, though the fighting scenes were done pretty well. They even made mistakes in the storyline.

For more info about Negima and also its mistakes, you can check out Wikipedia's take on it.

As for me, for some reason I truly enjoyed the anime. ^^ But the manga is probably much better, so I'm after that. I heard that you won't enjoy the anime much if you've read the manga... Hmm... >.>

That's all for my anime reviews. On to Tsubasa...

The last I've checked, Chapter 100 has been out for quite a while. Not that great a chapter, but still interesting. The anime has finally been licensed by FUNimation but has ordered all torrents and links to download Tsubasa has been removed. This has made a lot of the fans worried as that might mean no fansubs for season 2 and 3. ;__;

Character Drama CD songs are out. Kurogane actually sounds nice, amazingly enough. ^^ Sakura's song is ok, not as nice as the others but still quite good. The drama was quite funny, as the Tsubasa gang landed in a world where Touya is the priest and Yukito is a king who has lost all his emotions. So Fye comes up with an idea to make the King better and it involves Kurogane doing the most hillarious things. ^^

I've read up till volume 3 of the Saikano manga, and have a lot to say about the anime and manga differences, but I'll put a hold on that. ^^

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed Christmas! And here's wishing you all a happy new year! God bless! ^^
