Detta! Tsubasa no anime! To review?I finally got the first episode of Tsubasa!!!! (Jumps happily) And there's a lot of things I want to say...
Storyline wise, this anime pretty much followed the manga. But there were a few differences... sometimes I think it's just to make the anime a little longer. Whatever it is, the changes are inevitable, but strange all the same. Might need some getting used to...
When it comes to their voice actors... (takes a deep breath) Well, this will also need some getting used to. Hearing Syaoran's voice, one cannot help but compare him to Niwa Daisuke from D.N.Angel. I kinda wished they kept Kumai Motoko, but I also think that Irino Miyu's not so bad, I just need to adjust myself to this new Syaoran. This is also the same for Sakura. Her VA often sounds a little out of place, but seeing as this is her first time to voice act in an anime, I'll give her credit for trying. Touya sounds too old, Yukito lost the feminism in his voice (I'm not sure if that's good or bad), Fye, whom we all expect to sound just a little feminine, has none at all (what do you expect, his VA's a guy!) and Kurogane sounded just plain weird. Maybe it's because in the first episode, we only clearly hear him laughing on the top of the roof. And that, my friend, should not sum up the quality of this VA... @.@
Like I said, VA's need some getting used to as well.
Ah, but the music... The opening sequence was exactly how I imagined it to be (of course, not all of it, but I was close!) and the music, some people commented that 'Blaze' reminded them of Gundam. I heard it's because it's by the same producer or something... (I could be wrong). Whereas for the ending, after hearing the full version of 'Loop', I was kinda sad that it was shortened so much. But it was nicely covered up by the most queerest ending sequence I've ever seen. Focusing more on S+S childhood and their present lives... and the colours were less vibrant and striking. I found this very appealing...
And the BGM... oh my. Just a few seconds into the anime and you'd instantly recognise the music coming from the same creator as Hack//Sign. Really cool stuff, and I loved how the music managed to depict that dramatic moment.
All in all, I'm looking forward to watching more!
P.s. I heard another rumour that this anime will last for 26 episodes. Although it's kinda good, cause we'll get to know the ending faster, but what I don't like is that the ending might not be so satisfying if it ends too quickly. Plus, I want more S+S!!!
Ooo, and I have another review for another anime I've watched. As mentioned, I bought 'Rozen Maiden' and here are my thoughts about it.
Ever watched one of those horror movies where dolls are evil and they scare the heck out of you and because of that, you don't own one of those ancient porcelain dolls because of this?
For your information, I had that thought just as I watched the opening of this anime. Yeah, the opening freaked me out, and it was probably also because I watched this late at night.
I can assure you, this anime is nothing like what my first impression of the opening gave me.
This anime turned out to be hillarious with a great set of characters and a superb plot to boot.
The story revolves around Sakurada Jun and his sister, Sakurada Nori. Jun has a problem in which, he refuses to get out of the house and refuses to go to school. In other words, he just 'hates' people, including his sister. Nori tries hard to understand Jun and try to lead him back to normal, but Jun's too hard headed to listen to his sister.
Jun has a habit of buying things from the net, just to get his sister into some trouble carrying all the stuff to his room. Later he trips over a suitcase (that looked more like a coffin to me, though not shaped like one) and finds a doll that looks almost human. After finding a key in the suitcase, he turns it behind the dolls back... and lo and behold! The doll comes to life!
Here you meet Shinku, who is Rozen Maiden number 5. She has an upper class air around her, and she whacks Jun up if he doesn't listen to her. How is what fascinates me. For a doll, she looks like she has quite a punch in her.
Later, you learn about the 'Alice Game', in which all the Rozen Maidens are destined to play in order to become 'Alice', which is their ultimate goal. You meet other characters, such as Hina Ichigo, a little doll that can be bratty, childish and demanding, but sweet and cute at the same time. And then there's Suiseiseki... gosh, this doll rocks! Don't be fooled by how pretty she is or anything cute in her, this girl's got an evil attitude that I really love. And there's her twin sister, Souseiseki, in which if I explain about this doll more, I could give a spoiler.
Of course, which story is incomplete without an antagonist and this comes in the form of another Rozen Maiden, Suiginto. This doll can be pretty irritating with her gloating laughter and her over endearing confidence to defeat Shinku in the Alice game. But only in the last episode you see a side of her that explains her attitude.
Look out for one funny episode. Happnes to be my favourite. ^^
All in all, I loved the character development, especially in Jun. And there's the thing about how the anime can be closely related to real life. One of my favourite lines in this anime said by Shinku was:
"Life is all about fighting."And that is very true.
God bless!
