KURU KURU Mawaru! Is it me or is the Tsubasa anime getting a little crazy lately? The filler episodes can choke a little, and, to me, as much as the animation's getting better, there's still a lot left to be desired. The change in the plot is inevitable but I suppose because they just drop down on me like a rock falling from the sky, the surprise is a little hard to handle. I suppose this new Tsubasa will also take time to swallow... >.>
With all the stress lately I was desperate to watch something that can make me feel better or better yet, lift me up, without me having to struggle with watching an anime that I'm still trying to get used to. (Shows that I'm better off watching animes without reading the mangas first >.<)
And so my sister borrowed some animes! (After much bugging her about it) And now I have 'School Rumble' and 'Wolf's Rain'.
I've been wanting to watch 'Wolf's Rain' for so long after laying my eyes on the VCD, but after the hard week I've been having, I wanted something that wouldn't leave my brain spinning from something as serious as 'Wolf's Rain'. So I settled to watch 'School Rumble'.
Well, it also left my mind spinning. In a ditzy way as I was laughing and practically enjoying the whole 16 episodes that I had. It definitely lifted my spirits up. ^^
The story revolves around Tsukamoto Tenma, a 16-year-old high school student who's in love with Karasuma Ooji. Throughout the 16 episodes that I had, Tenma has been trying really hard to gain attention from this guy, but let me put it this way about Karasuma... he's blur, weird and lives in a world of his own. What Tenma sees in him, I'm not sure... @.@ And then we have Harima Kenji who's in love with Tenma. He's probably one of the most ugliest characters I've seen to fall in love (starts thinking about Ryu from Shaman King... lol!!!) but after a while, you'll grow to like him.
This crazy love triangle is actually pretty funny, as we see Harima chase Tenma who's chasing Karasuma who... seems to have a thing for food @.@ Meh, Karasuma freaks me out. But that's what makes the story interesting. With cameos from other shows like The Matrix and Initial D (yes, people, Initial D!) be prepared for a wacky ride as we see Tenma and Harima discover ways to reveal their feelings... only to land up in a world of misunderstandings. Which... is practically what 'Scool Rumble' is practically about... Misunderstandings.
Although the main plot revolves around this love triangle, the story soon delves into the support characters and their roles. Tenma has 3 other friends, Takano Akira, Sawachika Eri and Suou Mikoto. Takano Akira's one of those typical, cool girls who seems to be able to manipulate people to either "go away" or "do her bidding". Still, she's an interesting character, even if she does look a little serious @.@ (of course, that means you shouldn't mess with her or you'll be asking for it). Sawachika Eri is a mix, as her father's an English man and mother's Japanese. Eri's probably one of the best characters supporting characters in this show, she's not just some stylish girl that rejects every guy who's attempted to ask her out, but she's another misunderstood character that, from what I've watched so far, has a lot to give than we can imagine. Then we have Suou Mikoto, a brash, tough girl who's a lot of fun, passes off as a tomboy, but is still a girl with her desires. All of them not only make 'School Rumble' more interesting, but just as wacky all the same.
Do look out for Tenma's younger sister, Tsukamoto Yakumo. Not only would you not believe she's Tenma's
younger sister, but she also has an interesting personality, "one that has the power to read minds" or something like that. =D
There are a lot more crazy and interesting characters to watch out, but seeing as there are too many I'd leave it to those who're interested in watching it.
Look out for the music as well. Opening theme is called "SUKURANBURU" os "SCRAMBLE" for proper English and the ending is called "Onna no ko ? Otoko no ko" or in English, "Girls ? Boys". Though not that great, it's still catchy and matches with the anime really really well. I caught myself humming these tunes recently... Lol!!
My opinion? Watch it if you're into High School fun, craziness and plot twists. Definitely made a great "stress-buster" for me.
As I wait for Episode 9 of Tsubasa to come out this week, I'll be working hard on my assignments as I wait to have time to watch 'Wolf's Rain'. Until then...
God bless!
